Kick off the 2012 NASCAR season in style with Gatorade Duel betting odds for the 52nd running of the Great American Race.
The Gatorade Duel at Daytona certainly lived up to their new name. Long known as the Gatorade 125's, the races this season were lengthened by 10 laps and renamed the Gatorade Duel at Daytona.
In a 'Duel' that race fans have been accustomed to seeing, Michael Waltrip edged his Dale Earnhardt Inc. teammate Dale Earnhardt, Jr. by a mere .030 seconds for the win in the first event.
In the second Gatorade Duel, Tony Stewart held off a hard charging Jeff Burton in a race that included a seven-car incident that included contenders Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace. No drivers were hurt in the incident.
If Johnson, Gordon or Earnhardt Jr. were able to win the 2012 Gatorade Duel, bettors would win $5 for everyone $1 bet on the winning driver.
Tony Stewart at 7/1 odds to win and Kurt Busch at 12/1 odds to win, round out the top 5 favorites. In all, 33 individual drivers are listed with paying odds to win according to oddsmakers. The "Field" odds which include every driver not listed with individual odds is currently paying 30/1. There will be 43 cars in the 2012 Daytona 500. Gatorade Duel Betting Tips
